Jamila Versi (she/they) is based in London and Copenhagen and has roots from Kenya, India and Bulgaria. She roots her film and journalistic work in community and resistance, and believes in the power of storytelling for radical transformation.
They were recently nominated as the Danish delegate for Cinesud’s “Young Director’s Village”. She was written and directed; as well as produced; several short films; and is currently working on working on a short film with funding from Filmvaerkstedet Copenhagen. She is lucky to have had the mentorship of Roxy Rezvany, Saeed Taji Farouky, and has been the participant of several residencies.
She believes in the power of storytelling for radical transformation; and founded Kin Collective, a collective for racialised artists, in 2020. They are a member of the land justice collective Land In our Names.
